How long earbuds take to charge

· By Rowan Ellis

EARSOLE True Wireless Earbuds with LED Display, IPX7 – Series 117 white background main

There is no single answer: makers publish different times, and some give separate figures for the earbuds and the case. A Soundcore support article gives about 1.5 hours for the earbuds. Noise says its Air Buds+ take up to 30 minutes to fully charge.

The buds and the case are two charge times

The same Soundcore answer gives the case its own figure: a full charge takes up to 2 hours with a USB-C cable and 3-4 hours with a wireless charger. On that answer, the case figure is the longer one, and the wireless-charger figure is longer again.

The Noise answer gives one figure and does not split it between buds and case. That is the first thing to check on any spec sheet: which part the number belongs to.

What EARSOLE listings say, and what they leave out

Three of our own listings show how differently the same information can be written.

The Series 117 listing says the earbuds give up to 8 hours on a single charge and 50 hours with the case, and that they need only 1 hour to be fully charged. It does not say whether that hour is for the buds or the case.

The Series 113 listing says a full charge of 1H gives up to 8H, and that the fully charged case provides about 4 recharges.

The Series 119 listing gives 6-8 hours per charge, up to 30 hours with the case and a Type-C port, under the heading 36 Hours and Faster Charging. Its battery section gives no charging time.

So read the battery section for two separate numbers, one for the buds and one for the case. If only one is given, that is all the page tells you, and the playtime figures are not a charging time.

Charging new earbuds for the first time

In a r/HeadphoneAdvice thread, a buyer of new QCY M10 earbuds asked how long to charge them and the case before first use.

One commenter said most TWS earbuds arrive with some charge and most take 2 hours to fully charge, though some have a 10-20 minute quick charge that grants 1-2 hours of play time. The same commenter said the light should turn off on most earbud cases once charging is done.

Another said the first charge on the Sony buds they used takes a few hours, and that they followed the instructions so they could rule that out if there was a problem.

If your pair came with first-charge instructions, follow them. For what the lights and displays on a charging case show while it charges, see what a working charge looks like on our listings.

How long does it take for an earbud case to charge?

It depends on the model. One Soundcore support answer says a full charge of the case takes up to 2 hours with a USB-C cable and 3-4 hours with a wireless charger.
